Yukio Futatsugi, creator of Phantom Dust and the Panzer Dragoon series (except Orta) has announced that his new project codenamed: Project Drago will be exclusive for Kinect. Ironically, it looks like the Panzer Dragoon 5 that I have been waiting all my life for. Microsft has dscribed the game as “an Epic 3D Shooter” which allows you to nurture and communicate with your dragon to develop it skills and train it for combat (It’s like they’re trying to take The Last Guardian head on or something). So far, the only thing that been confirmed is a single piece of teaser art which can be found after the jump.

After much speculation, the famous twins from Street Fighter 3, Yun and Yang have been confirmed to be the two new characters that will be added to the arcade version of Super Street Fighter IV whichwill later be released as DLC on the console versions. For those not aware, Yun and Yang were first introduced in Street Fighter 3 and with their unique ansatsuken fighting style similar to that of Gen from SFIV, they became the Ryu and Ken of the game in terms of their intresting fighting style and awesome theme music. From the current playtests that have been running in Japanese arcades, it seems the characters are mostly unchanged from their SFIII counterparts apart from some obvious balancing being done to make the characters less broken (Yun in particular was considered to be the best character in the game). Location test footage after the jump.

DJ MAX 3, The benami rhythm game for the PSP will only getting 6,000 copies for it’s retail release, 5,000 being standard editions with a further 1,000 copies being the exclusive limited edition. The reason for this release is: to quote Micheal Yum who is the executive produce of Playmaker Studios:

“We wanted to focus on our next gen games for retail and we felt the PSP market was leading more towards digital distribution. Plus we have been very happy with our PSN results on Strikers and DJ Max Fever so we think DJ Max Portable 3 would also be a great addition,”

For anyone worried about never getting a chance to play the game then don’t worry as the game will then be released 5 days on PSN on October 19th so there is no need to worry about playing Project DIVA Lite. For anyone who can’t wait that long, DJ Max Fever is currently avaliable on PSN for North American and European PS3 users.

Fighting Fundays is an irregular weekly segment by the Unofficial Fighting Games Guru of TSG, GrimsChild as he takes a look at fighting games ranging from good to bad and old to new.

SNK didn’t exactly have a very good reputation during the final days of the sixth generation of console gaming.. At the time gamers had all but given up hope on SNK with the Neo Geo being overpriced and with the next generation of consoles coming out such as Sony’s new PS2, SNK had every right to be worried about their upcoming competition (didn’t help that the Dreamcast flunked at that time either). However, instead of being melanchloic about the situation, they wanted to go out with a bang creating a game that everyone would remember SNK for. Sadly, the game didn’t sell well and unlike Squeenix’s Final Fantasy move SNK then dissappeared from the home console market leaving behind one last relic of their former glory, Garou: Mark of the Wolves.

Last week I mentioned that KOF Sky Stage would be due to an American release this fall. Well it turns out that by this fall I meant next wednesday. The game will cost 800 points (the same as the other vertical Shmup on XBLA, Triggerheart Exelcia) and features popular mainstay characters: Kyo Kusanagi, Iori Yagami, Athena Asimiya, Kula Diamond, Mai Shirinui and of course; Terry Bogard. The game will mostly be a straight port of the arcade version with the addition on online play allowing you to play Co-op Ikaruga style or fight each other for points style as well as those all important online leaderboards to show your Shmup skills to the world.
