I’ve been sick for the last 24 hours but seeing the mail lifted my spirits a bit. Cow from our forums donated a brand new, still in the wrapping copy of Pokemon Platinum for the the Pokmon marathon! Just last week Cheesecake donated a mint condition Ho-oh Poke doll! Last, but not least, Yuso sent us multiple copies of the Pokemon league badges about a month ago, also still in their wrapping. There’s still some prizes I’m waiting on announcing till a later date, so be sure to check back for more prize info.

What an excellent marathon. There’s so many people that we need to thank, starting with Capcom. They raised the awareness of our marathon and helped further legitimize what we game for.  As of right now, the community has raised over $8,200 for Diabetes Research and Wellness.  The chip in will remain available till Tuesday Nov.3.

This community really is awesome.  Think about this; we’re just under $2,000 away from raising $100,000 total for various causes. $100,000 in under 2 years!!!!!!! Unbelievable!! This is just the beginning for TSG.

Because of the time of the year it is with the college semester in full swing, prizes might take a bit to come your way. I’ll email the winners this week and get shipping details finalized.

TheSpeedGamer’s Resident Evil marathon to raise money for The Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation begins Friday October 30th @ 6pm cst and will last 48 hours. A live game feed will be broadcast right here on our site www.TheSpeedGamers.com alongside a commentary feed and chatroom.

Example:

To keep things interesting there will be a “Pumpkin Cam”. We will place a webcam inside of a pumpkin outside of the house so the viewers will be able to see the trick or treaters in a separate stream beside our main feed. We want the full Halloween experience

Capcom will be supporting us for our Halloween marathon. They have donated several prizes such as multiple copies of RE5(360,Ps3 and 2 autographed  PC versions by the producers of RE5) and Re Archives (Wii).  We also have a Resident Evil 5 collector’s edition(Xbox 360) which Phil is giving away and three copies of Looney Land Halloween Hill that Blackduck was able to hook us up with.

Aiyoh, I’m exhausted. I thought this marathon would be a breeze compared to our week long Final Fantasy marathon but I’m still beat.

What a great summer we had with you guys. I’m proud of our community that continues to grow and do amazing things for society.  I guess us gamers aren’t so bad after all, huh?

Our Halloween marathon starts Octobers 30th and lasts 48 hours. We will be playing the Resident Evil series and currently you can vote on the cause we are gaming for in the forums.

I received an email from The Megas offering three great prizes for the marathon. Three bundles with a CD and a Mega’s shirt of the winner’s choice. If you haven’t already, check out The Mega’s debut album Get Equipped, a tribute to the MM2 soundtrack .

Wondering what’s up for grabs this time around?

-Anatotitan has sent me a sketchbook full of Mega Man material to give away during the marathon. If you’ve seen her work, you know just how brilliant these sketches are. It’s also to be noted that sketchbook is made completely of recycled materials.

-My little buddy from Ohio (Ruju), has sent us  a sweet looking Mega Man figurine still in its box. MEGA cool.

-JSatter13 and Skeletor1991 will be gifting MegaMan games on vc for 2 lucky viewers. Skeletor has also donated a hard copy of Mega Man 2(NES) and Megaman Starforce 3 Black Ace(DS).

-StopDropandBear is graciously donating MegaMan9 on Wiiware.

-Gwellin dropped off Mega Man 2 (NES) when he came down for the FF marathon.

These prizes coupled with the Mana prize packages and The Megas cd donated by Ferenc should make for some exciting give aways.
