I know there’s been a lot of Xenoblade Chronicles posts over the last few days, but I need to make a correction. There was a mistranslation with the french website Nintendo-Master that Xenoblade Chronicles was pushed into 2012. But now we’re hearing that isn’t the case, as multiple sites confirm that the title is still launching this year. The title will go on sale September 2nd. The title will launch alongside a limited edition version that includes a red classic controller pro that matches the color of the blade the main character uses in the title.
While we’re here, there’s some more Xenoblade Chronicles info going around. After the huge explosion that was Operation Rainfall, IGN is claiming that Nintendo of America is readying a statement regarding Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story and Pandora’s Tower, which is set to hit either tonight or tomorrow. What that statement holds is unknown.
Also, some European footage of Xenoblade Chronicles has come out, showcasing some of the voice work for the game. Being localized in the UK, all the voices demoed have British accents. You can find the footage after the jump.
We’ve heard quite a few developers backing the Wii U. But Ubisoft is already knee deep into the system, producing their very own exclusive title, Killer Freaks from Outer Space.
The title is a first person shooter from Ubisoft with tongue-cheek-humor and a load of aliens called “Freaks,” who kind of look like demented Rabbids. Players mow through packs of Freaks using the Wii U controller in single player. You can aim using the gyro sensor. Ubisoft believes it will add a new level of precision combining both of the analog sliders and the gyro controls.
Right now the title includes four player co-op, which according to GoNintendo, is online. The title also features local competitive multiplayer. One player uses a classic controller to play on the TV screen while the other player uses the Wii U controller and its screen. The Wii U player has a map where he can spawn enemies and attempt to kill the player.
What makes this title stand out, aside from looking to be just plain weird overall, is that there are actually screens of it running on the Wii U hardware, which you can find after the jump. Keep in mind these are early screenshots, so some things may not be as pretty as you’d expect yet. There’s also a live-action/CG trailer after the jump.
E3 is only a couple weeks away, but Microsoft is already rolling out a Gears of War 3 trailer. As with the last two Gears of War titles, the third entry features manly men doing manly things, like shooting things with guns and chainsawing things with chainsaws. This time around there is even a manly woman doing manly things.
Aside from Forza 4, this is the only title Microsoft has announced in their pipeline for 2011. We’re bound to see both more of Gears of War 3 and new titles on June 6th, when Microsoft holds their E3 press conference.
