Kid Icarus isn’t exactly one of Nintendo’s most recognizable franchises. With Pit’s return in brawl interest seemed to peak a little back in 2007. After a handful of rumors and some rumored leaked art, we are still here without a new Kid Icarus.

Yoshio Sakamoto, who worked on the original Kid Icarus, recently spoke at GDC and to his knowledge, at least to the public, there is currently no Kid Icarus title in the works.

I don’t know personally about any project underway regarding Kid Icarus,” Sakamoto said. But if there is enough demand for it Sakamoto thinks it will happen.  “If so many of those people are interested in it and really want to see it on the Wii they should really speak up. If we can find some sort of way to bring it to the Wii, a way to make the game for the Wii that makes sense, we would happily do so, but just keep in mind it may not be me making the game.

Rumor had it that Factor 5 was working on a new Kid Icarus title before their doors were closed, but that was never confirmed.

But if it is true that there is no Kid Icarus title in development then it will be a good while before we see one.

We need a “Raise Interest for Kid Icarus Wii” marathon. :P

I’d like to see it, but he’d better fly and not just jump around like Samus or Simon Belmont (if I remember the old one right); otherwise, it’s just more of the same, and his wings would go to waste.
Not that Nintendo’s going to see my comment here and I’m too lazy to send it to em :P
