Guild Wars fans have been waiting a long time for Guild Wars 2 and their going to have to wait even more. Jaeho Lee, NCsoft west CEO, said that “The commercialization will be expected at this point probably sometime in the year 2011.” He did say that there may be a closed beta test in 2010, so there is still a chance that there will be a way to take a shot at the sequel before 2011.

I’m not sure what to think of hearing this. I’ve been a huge fan of Guild Wars since the original release and have been looking forward to this for a long time now. Knowing that 2011 is most likely the release year I don’t need to get my hopes up for next year and get to know that it means it gets that much more time to be worked on is a good thing but 2011… that’s so far away.

I think one of three things in regards to this: This game is either going to be the best thing I’ve ever played in my life, ArenaNET is shooting themselves in the foot with this, or Guild Wars 2 has become good friends with DNF in the VaporWare genre of games.

Besides Star Wars: The Old Republic, this is the MMO I am looking forward to most. I am stoked for this release and I still play Guild Wars on a regular basis. Hurry up 2011!
