Matt Casamasina of IGN got a tip while attending GDC this year about Nintendo’s next console. According to a developer he spoke to, Nintendo said that Wii 2 will be launching some time in 2012.
As Matt points out, almost anyone probably would have guessed 2012, but he feels the source is somewhat reliable.
Even if it is true, it will be awhile till we hear anything else most likely.

Huh, interesting. I wonder if it’s true. IGN are known to be, well… IGNorant.
I certainly hope that they will not name the console Wii 2. While they haven’t used names like that before, I fear that they might now in order to appeal to the broader audience with a familiar name..
