There were rumours floating around yesterday, but Gearbox have officially stated that Borderlands 2 will be coming to us – somepoint between April 1st 2012 and March 31st 2013 – one of the vaguest, yet accurate windows I’ve heard for a while
According to the Press Release given out today, there will be brand new characters, abilities, places to explore and of course all new weaponry and equipment with which to kill the brand new enemies, which is always a very welcome bonus. The announcement has come as no huge surprise, as time and time again, Randy Pitchford has stated he wants to do more with Borderlands, which has come in the shape of this sequel.
If they’re changing nearly everything about it, is there a chance it will fall into the same pit Square Enix did when they tried to revitalise Final Fantasy? Or do Gearbox know what they’re doing? Time will tell

What a strange title.. Then again, it’s quite a strange story.
A young lady named Ashley was happily playing Dead Space 2 when her dog knocked over her Xbox360, killing it in the most horrible fashion imaginable… [AKA: Not a RROD and not covered by warrenty.] After attempting to fix the console, she quickly ran to Twitter in order to gripe, complain and generally fill up her followers boxes.
Well, a director at EA [somebody that had previously commented to Ashley that Dead Space 2 was going to be a great title] noticed, and sent Ashley a little present!
An autographed copy of Dead Space 2, alongside a hand-drawn image from the Dead Space Artists! [See them after the jump].
Makes me wonder… Can I get my yorkie to drag my Super Nintendo outside a 5 story window and get an autographed copy of Earthbound? IT IS OBVIOUSLY WORTH A TRY. [/begins evil plotting]
Hoo-boy, and I thought that Trion World developers were nuts.
Anyway, the developers of Infamous 2 are wanting to set the newest benchmark in graphical greatness by having its upcoming title Infamous 2 to have better graphics than the current undisputed champion of Uncharted 2. While they offer no proof to their desired claim, the development team seems very confident.
Although it’s a shame to have such great graphics and keep Cole with that terrible haircut.
Apparently, Mass Effect 2 gamers have been finding themselves [very rarely] experiencing a nasty bug that is corrupting save files and ruining hours of hard work and labor.
Thankfully, Bioware’s technical support department aren’t as lazy as Obsidian with their Fallout New Vegas patches and have already begun fixing the issue.
“This patch is then being delivered to Sony ASAP for verification and distribution. We will announce as soon the patch is available. Please see the below patch notes for a complete list of what will be included.” says Bioware.
-Fixed a crash related to memory fragmentation. This fix will also resolve the crashing that corrupted Save Games.
-Slightly improved load times and level streaming.
-Added some telemetry to better improve future titles.
-Updated some strings to fix spelling mistakes (Sorry Kaidan!)
-Fixed the picture frame in Shepard’s Cabin to accurately reflect your love interest choices in Mass Effect: Genesis.
-Fixed a rare crash in the PSN version in Shepard’s Cabin.
But if you’re unable to wait that long…
“There is a very simple work around to ensure the freezing and corruption issues are minimized. Simply restart your game every few hours. By shutting down and restarting your game, you will not encounter the corrupted save issue.” says Bioware.
Sorry. There’s not an amazing introduction concert this time around.
Instead, Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be following around the mythology surrounding the deities in the Final Fantasy XIII universe [mostly surrounding the Etro deity, which controls the human heart]. Moreover, the story will pickup from the storybook that came with the Xbox360 version and expand upon events both past and present in the Final Fantasy XIII universe. We are told that the world would be “expanded”. Whether this was meant as a literal “ZOMG we can get out of the straight line we walk from point 1 to game end” or if was speaking figuratively in terms of depth of plot.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 has been called [by team leaders] as a more dark and mysterious entry into the Final Fantasy universe.
The male opposite of Lighting is still unconfirmed, but it is rumored to be Cid Raines [unconfirmed by all senses of the word].
The battle system was very briefly discussed. Developers state that it was be remarkably similar to the original game, but slightly altered and evolved to better represent the atmosphere.
Difficulty modes were discussed, but not confirmed.
Famitus will snag more info later this week. Check back later for more details.
The Good: Mass Effect 2 for the PS3 has hit shelves! Not only does it come with all the downloaded content from the Xbox360 version, but it also has an updated engine and graphics! I mean, what more could you ask for? The $60 price seems like a lot, but this is MONTHS of enjoyment awaiting you.
The Bad: Mass Effect 2 has one heck of an install time. Gamers are reporting up to 52 minutes for JUST the main game, not including the extra content. While some people are stating that having more free space can speed up the process, it’s still one heck of a time investment. I suggest running it before you go to bed.
The Ugly: Looks like the gaming reviews are being a little more than critical on the game. IGN especially is being more than evil to the PS3 platform. That’s not what is so aggrivating. It’s that the gaming journalists are ADMITTING that they haven’t completed the game and are reviewing solely on a few hours of gameplay. Fair and balanced opinions. They should go join FoxNews.

Haven’t played one of the [arguably] best games out there? Well, now’s your chance! Walmart is offering a great deal on Uncharted 2 Game of the Year Edition with free shipping to your home. Check out the link if you’re interested!
No, I’m not joking. Mass Effect 2 for the Ps3 will hit the US on January 18th, and you can snag the 12 GB download over the PlayStation Network. By the time you finish downloading it, perhaps you’ll be able to play it by Valentine’s Day. Considering, however, that the PS3 version comes with all the previous downloadable content, plus an engine/graphics upgrade, it’s not completely surprising.
One nice perk, however, is that PlayStation Plus members can play an entire hour of the full game starting on January 18th.
Hope you’ve got fast internet!
Are we a step closer to Final Fantasy XIII-2? It seems like perhaps it might be the case! A domain was recently created, under the name finalfantasy13-game.com. More importantly, it was registered by “Corporation Service Company”, which has recently registered domains for Neir, Mindjack and other Square Enix titles.
Will we be seeing more of Lighting and Snow? Will we get to play dress up again? Or could we be in a treat for something completely new? These, and other questions, will hopefully be answered soon!
Looks like Sony is really pushing Infamous 2 out the door for this upcoming year. Sony has reported that they will be spending MILLIONS in marketing campaigns, including advertising, merchandising, product displays and national media coverage. With the game coming out later in this year, expect to be seeing a lot of Infamous 2 details very shortly.
Infamous 2 will be continuing from the previous title, while Cole travels to New Marais in search of a researcher that can assist him in defeating “The Beast”. Because Cole is still being the central target of blame for Empire City’s destruction, he hopes to redeem his name and bring new hope to the world. That, or make everyone your electro-slaves. Whichever one floats your boat.
