Great job everyone!
I'm making a note here:
HUGE SUCCESS!

There’s something that’s been missing from the Resident Evil series as of late – That building tension while you edge around each corner and slowly pace yourself down each hall, taking in every aspect of your environment to predict what will jump at you next. It is a feeling that not many titles seem to be able to live up to. The Resident Evil franchise is seemingly focusing more on Chris’ big manly muscles and action sequences than actually working to create a chilling experience. The trailer for Resident Evil 6 doesn’t calm my fears either, but Resident Evil Revelations looks to be giving us a glimpse of where the series could have gone if Resident Evil 4 was taken in a more conservative direction.

Some of you might remember that I did a paragraph on Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter during the PlayStation 2 Staff Picks. I feel one paragraph kind of does an injustice to the amount of innovation placed into such a tightly woven game as Dragon Quarter. Furthermore, some of you also might remember a game called S.O.S: The Human Escape released by Human Entertainment (The first games company that Suda51 worked for). S.O.S took place on a sinking cruise liner that would become engulfed in the ocean in one hour. While on the surface, your goal was to escape from the sinking ship with your own life, that was only scratching the surface of the game as it would result in one ending. The true goal of the game was to explore the ship to find trapped passengers that need you to rescue them. Escaping the ship causes different endings to occur with different combinations of passengers. This can be considered the first example of a New Game Plus in video games and Dragon Quarter would take this concept to an entirely new level.

More ice levels?! OF COURSE MORE ICE LEVELS! Today’s level is one of my favorite series ever. It’s Ice Edge, from Viewtiful Joe 2!

Those looking to pick up Resident Evil: Revelation may want to put some extra money aside, as the Nintendo 3DS slide pad will be launching alongside the title.

Currently there is no confirmation on whether or not the title will actually be bundled with the slide pad. But one thing is for sure, it will be available if you want it come the title’s launch on February 7th in North America.

The slide pad will work with a  variety of others titles as well, including Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater 3D, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drops Distance, Ace Combat, Dynasty Warriors Vs. and Monster Hunter Tri G, which it will be launching in Japan with.

Capcom’s done it again- in their campaign to garner as much hatred as possible from their fanbase through alienating them little by little, they’ve decided to remove one of the most popular features of their Monster Hunter series from the 3DS port coming soon.

As for online features for the mostly online-based RPG, the portable rendition of the Wii version will be limited to quest downloads, with the series’ defining co-op limited to local Wi-Fi only.

He’s covered wars, he’s covered the Willamette zombie attack, and covered why there are pictures of him in a dress, Frank West is back in a re-imagining of the events of Fortune City, with new missions, new weaponry and a new camera. Was this a good idea, or shameless cash-grabbing by Capcom?

During the Tokyo Game Show, publisher Capcom was present en masse, promoting their products heavily. Among the promotional materials were flyers in English promoting Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright, the first time Capcom has recognized the English title. In addition to that was the statement that English character names were TBD, stopping just short of officially announcing the game for a North American release.

Among the teasing text was the official trailer for the game, and I swear that if they pull a Mega Man Legends 3 on this game there will be heads rolling…

Anyway, the trailer is after the jump.

Capcom cancelled Legends 3 and have yet to localise a few games, however don’t worry! More information has come out announcing four of eight future casual games from their new publishing brand Beeline.

Among the licesnses gathered are Peanuts and the Smurfs, which are expected to be released over the next year for the iPad, iPhone and iPod. Two games are due for release soon in the shape of Smurf Grabber – yes, those Smurfs – and Monster Pet Shop, with Dream Park just released. All are lined up to be free, with micro-transactions the source of funding.

The only other game slated for release is the tenatively titled Snoopy, but no solid release dates exist yet.

Recently Capcom decided to hurt a portion of it’s fans by cancelling Mega Man Legends 3 for the Nintendo 3DS. Within the past month, loyal fans have been pushing and pushing to get the word out that they care about the game, such as, creation of the 100,000 Strong for Bringing Back Mega Man Legends 3 group on the social networking site FaceBook.

The gaming site Kotaku has had an interview with Brian Keltner, Capcom’s Spokesman.

“We are aware of the fan created Facebook page requesting that we resume development of Mega Man Legends 3,”

“While Capcom has a built a strong relationship with its community and values their feedback, Mega Man Legends 3 development has officially ceased without plans to resume development.”

That’s really harsh words just to out and say to it’s fans.

“There are tough realities in this industry that are largely left unpublicized for a good reason—because they’re tough,” Capcom community liaison Greg Moore wrote. “All games go through a multi-stage approval process, but most games are not brought to the public’s attention until that final approval has been met. With Mega Man Legends 3, exposing the fans to that process was part of the project’s core concept—to show everybody what it really means to create a game. We were all in it together here, for better or worse, and now together we must accept the outcome that many games ultimately face.”

Mega Man Legends 3 fans are left crushed and broken
