Great job everyone!
I'm making a note here:
HUGE SUCCESS!

Last month, Netflix announced that they were splitting their streaming and DVD services. The streaming portion would remain Netflix, and the DVD shipment would be named “Qwikster“. Qwikster would ship DVDs and Blu-rays, and soon video games. To reap the benefits of Qwikster, users would have to make an additional account, and have a separate bill on a completely different website.

As of today, October 10th, 2011. Reed Hastings of Netflix, has announced that Qwikster is no more. The DVD portion that was originally splitting off will be staying at Netflix.

“It is clear that for many of our members two websites would make things more difficult, so we are going to keep Netflix as one place to go for streaming and DVDs.

This means no change: one website, one account, one password… in other words, no Qwikster.

While the July price change was necessary, we are now done with price changes.

We’re constantly improving our streaming selection. We’ve recently added hundreds of movies from Paramount, Sony, Universal, Fox, Warner Bros., Lionsgate, MGM and Miramax. Plus, in the last couple of weeks alone, we’ve added over 3,500 TV episodes from ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, USA, E!, Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, ABC Family, Discovery Channel, TLC, SyFy, A&E, History, and PBS.

We value our members, and we are committed to making Netflix the best place to get movies & TV shows.

Thank you.”

Netflix will continue to be a convenient service for people to enjoy. The death of Qwikster, will bring joy to some, and disappointment to others.

It kind of seems like an odd match up but Netflix and Telltale are teaming up with their promotional materials. Right now for both Canada and The Unites States, if you sign up for a one month free trial of Netflix you get the full 5 episode Sam and Max: The Devil’s Playhouse series in it’s entirety.

This is a great series with a good sense of humor and fun gameplay if you enjoy the occasional adventure game. It’s not too much of a catch, but you have to put in billing information for the free trial, so you probably have to cancel the trial before they bill you if you don’t want pay.

Netflix is almost everywhere now, but soon you might be able to have it on the go with your Nintendo DS as well.

A consumer survey detailed what the service would be like.

Imagine that Netflix offers its subscribers the ability to instantly watch movies and & TV episodes on their Nintendo DS. The selection available to instantly watch includes some new releases, lots of classics and TV episodes. There are no advertisements or trailers, and movies start in as little as 30 seconds. You can fast-forward, rewind, and pause or watch again. The movies & TV episodes you instantly watch are included in your Netflix membership at no additional fee.

There is a small catch, but it is to be expected.”Whenever you want to instantly watch content on your Nintendo DS, your Nintendo DS must be connected to a Wi-Fi network.

I’m not sure if I would want to watch video content on my Nintendo DS. I’m  not a huge fan of small screens, but I guess that is what DSi XL is for.

Would you watch Netflix videos on your Nintendo DS?

If you have been wanting to stream Netflix on your TV using your Wii then today is a good day for you. Nintendo and Netflix has announced that this spring Netflix’s online streaming service will be available on your Wii via a free DVD from Netflix similar to PlayStation 3′s set up.

The Wii unfortunately can’t play any content in HD obviously, but if you don’t have a Xbox live gold account or a PS3 then this may be the right choice for you.

If you want to order your DVD you can do so here. It is 100% free for any members who have a Netflix account that costs at least $8.99 a month.

Netflix told Joystiq that all of the content that is available for the other consoles is also available on Wii, so other then High Definition it should be quite similar to the PlayStation 3 service.

Again, you can expect the service to begin some time this spring.
